This Week’s Predictions

Sunderland v Man Utd

Jack: 1-1 United have all but won the title barring some sort of miracle from city. They also have an FA cup fixture against Chelsea on Monday so chances are they’ll field a weakened team against Sunderland which I why I’m going to go for a draw in this game.

Joe: 0-2 United will be full of confidence since they’ve created themselves a nice lead at the top. Sunderland may have a point to prove and will want to give their fans something to cheer about, but I can’t see Fergie letting complacency into his side.

Arsenal v Reading

Jack: 3-1 Reading are fighting for survival and Arsenal are fighting for fourth place so I anticipate this is going to be fiercely contested game. A win will take Arsenal to within a point of Tottenham given that motivation I can’t see any slip ups.

Joe: 3-1 Both teams with a point to prove, however the league table speaks for itself really. Arsenal to win for me.

Man City v Newcastle

Jack: 2-1 City took their foot off the gas last week and were rightly punished by a high flying Everton. Newcastle are erratic and have been tumbling down the table recently so as neither team has much to play for don’t expect classic but City should have the quality to win this one.

Joe: 2-0 Newcastle haven’t been the side that impressed so well last year this season, and will struggle against a Man City side desperate to catch up with their neighbours United.

Southampton v Chelsea

Jack: 1-0 Southampton are hovering dangerously close to the relegation spots, there win over Liverpool last time out gave them much needed points and confidence. I’m backing them to produce another surprise against Chelsea this weekend.

Joe: 1-2 As much as I like Southampton, I don’t think they’ve got the class to see off Chelsea, especially with the likes of Mata and Hazard running the show in midfield.

Swansea v Tottenham

Jack: 2-0 I do enjoy watching Swansea play, their style is excellent. After the disappointment of the Champions League I’m wondering if Tottenham’s talisman Bale might have is head turned and be thinking of a move to Manchester or Spain. Without Bale they lack an edge so I think Swansea’s style with see them through.

Joe: 2-1 Swansea are one of my favourite teams, simply because they play football the way it’s meant to be played: fast, fluid and on-the-deck. I’d love them to beat Tottenham, so I’m going with a home win.

West Ham v West Brom

Jack: 0-0 Classic end of season game. West Ham are most likely safe from relegation and West Brom are in the high mid table. Neither has much to play for so I’m plumping for a bore draw in this one.

Joe: 1-1 The two ‘West Boring’ teams as I like to call them (as of now, when I just made that up). West Brom are slight favourites in my eyes, since they’ve really impressed this season, but I think the home advantage for West Ham will make it an even game.

Wigan v Norwich

Jack: 2-0 It’s the end of the season so of course Wigan will win the majority of their games that’s why I’m going for them in this fixture. If they could produce this type of form for the rest of the season then they wouldn’t be in this position but that would spoil the drama.

Joe: 2-1 Here comes the Wigan fightback! They do it every season, and it’s just unfortunate for Norwich that they are playing them now. Home win.

Everton v Stoke

Jack: 1-0 Stoke are poor away from home and Everton will be riding high after beating City in their last game. Won’t be high scoring as Everton don’t score many and Stoke don’t concede many but Everton should make the break through in this one.

Joe: 2-0 Stoke are one of my least favourite teams, mainly because they are the exact opposite to Swansea in every way (except starting with the letter ‘s’). Everton have had a stormer this season and I expect them to pull off a convincing win here.

Aston Villa v Liverpool

Jack: 1-3 Villa will score first just because Liverpool always have to make it extremely awkward. They lost to Southampton last time out but I think they’ll get it together enough to see them through against a young Villa side.

Joe: 1-2 I expect an away win from Liverpool in this one. I don’t think it’ll be easy, but with the reds starting to climb up the table they’ll pull through and continue their good form this half of the season.

Fulham v QPR

Jack: 2-0 Fulham surprisingly beat Tottenham in their last game so they will be confident at home against a QPR side that are rooted to the bottom of the league. Rednapp won’t be able to pull this rabbit out of his hat so QPR will disappear without a trace.

Joe: 2-1 QPR are all but relegated now, and the fightback they were threatening never really came to anything. Could be a close encounter this one, but I predict Fulham to beat them at home.
