Football Predictions: 16th – 17th April 2013

We’re back again, and due to the midweek matches we’re back sooner than usual. If you’ve just joined us check out last week’s results here to catch up!

Good result for Joe again this week, who is now pulling away (slowly) from Jack. The end of the season is getting nearer so Jack might need some wildcard magic to bring it back level again.

Week 7 Results

Jack: 2 points – 2 correct result, 0 correct scorelines

Joe: 6 points – 4 correct results, 1 correct scoreline

Week 8 (part 1) Predictions

TUE 16 APR 2013 – PREMIER LEAGUE

Arsenal
 v
Everton

 19:45

Jack: 2-1, Both teams are fighting it out for the European places, expected from Arsenal but Everton are certainly a surprise package this season. Arsenal do far a lot more firepower than Everton upfront though so I’m backing them to edge it.

Joe: 1-2, Going for a controversial one here. I really rate Everton this season, and I think they’ve got what it takes to cause an upset over a very unpredictable Arsenal side.

WED 17 APR 2013 – PREMIER LEAGUE

 Man City
v
Wigan

19:45

Jack: 1-1, Who would have thought at the start of the season that this would be a dress rehearsal for the FA cup final? Wigan are unfortunate that one of their games in hand is against City but given that they’ve had a day more to prepare and City aren’t really bothered about the league anymore I think a draw is likely.

Joe: 2-1, Wigan will fight to the death to avoid relegation, again. And I think they’ll do it, again. However with 2 games in hand I think they’re more likely to get something from the second of those 2 games. Home win.

West Ham
v
Man Utd

19:45

Jack: 1-2, United are in cruise control at the moment, the question for them now is when rather than if they will win the title. West Ham are all but safe from relegation so this game will be more about pride than points.

Joe: 2-2, United have the title in the bag, and I think they’ll start playing for fun rather than points. As West Ham are a very determined and almost scrappy team I think they’ll grind out a point here.

Fulham
v
Chelsea

20:00

Jack: 0-3, Chelsea will be disappointed with their showing in mid week, so I’m predicting stung by that they will hammer Fulham who aren’t really playing for anything at this stage in the season.

Joe: 1-3, London derby, but not one of the ‘great’ ones. To be honest I don’t really see as much rivalry between these two as I do with Chelsea and Tottenham. For that reason I’m going to say a classic end of season nobody really gives a crap game, with the glimpses of quality mostly coming from Chelsea.

Wildcard Predictions

Jack: Most Yellow cards in the West Ham v Man United game.

Joe: Red card in the West Ham v Man United game.
